Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers about website repairs, updates, maintenance and support.

What types of website problems can you fix?

We can help with most common website problems, including broken pages, missing images, layout issues, error messages, faulty contact forms, plugin conflicts, failed updates and websites that have stopped working altogether. If you are unsure what the problem is, we can investigate it for you.

Do you only work with WordPress websites?

WordPress is one of the platforms we work with most frequently, but we have vast experience of working with many other types of websites and content management systems. Send us the details of your website and the problem you are experiencing, and we should be able to help.

Can you help if I don’t know what is wrong with my website?

Yes. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. Simply tell us what you have noticed, and we can investigate the likely cause and explain what is needed to put it right.

Do you take on small website jobs?

Absolutely. Web Medic is specifically designed to help with all sizes of businesses and issues. We are happy to help with small website jobs that other agencies sometimes may not be interested in. Whether it is replacing an image, correcting some text or fixing a single broken feature, we are happy to help.

How much will my website repair cost?

The cost depends on the problem and how long it is likely to take to resolve. Wherever possible, we will provide a clear fixed quotation before starting. If further problems are discovered, we will discuss them with you before carrying out any additional work.

How quickly can you fix my website?

Straightforward jobs can often be completed quickly, sometimes on the same working day. More complicated problems may require further investigation. Once we have reviewed the issue, we will give you a realistic indication of the likely timescale.

Do you offer emergency website repairs?

Yes, subject to availability. If your website is completely unavailable, displaying a serious error or causing problems for your customers, let us know that the issue is urgent when you contact us.

What information will you need from me?

We will usually need your website address and a description of the problem. Depending on the work required, we may also need temporary access to your website administration area, hosting account or domain settings. We will only request the access genuinely needed to complete the work.

Is it safe to give you access to my website?

Yes. Any login information you provide will be treated securely and used only for the agreed work. We recommend creating temporary access details where possible and changing or removing them once the work has been completed.

Will you back up my website before making changes?

Where appropriate and where your hosting arrangements allow it, we will take or confirm a suitable backup before carrying out significant changes. We will let you know if there are any limitations affecting the backup process.

Can you update the text and images on my website?

Yes. We can make one-off content updates, add new pages, replace images, upload documents, update contact details and make other everyday changes to keep your website accurate and current.

Can you fix a contact form that has stopped working?

Yes. We can investigate contact forms that are not sending, displaying errors or delivering messages to the wrong place. Email delivery can involve both the website and your email provider, so we will explain if any changes outside the website are also required.

Can you improve a website that looks wrong on mobile devices?

Yes. We can investigate layout, spacing, sizing and usability problems affecting mobile phones and tablets. Some older websites may have limitations, but we will explain what can realistically be improved.

Can you remove malware or clean a hacked website?

In many cases, yes. We can assess the website, identify suspicious files or activity and advise on the safest recovery process. A compromised website may also require password changes, security updates or assistance from the hosting provider.

Can you update an old website?

Yes. We can update website software, plugins, themes, content and other components where it is safe to do so. Very old websites sometimes require additional work to avoid compatibility problems, so we will assess the website before recommending an approach.

Do you offer ongoing website maintenance?

Yes. Our website care and maintenance services can include regular software updates, backups, security checks, monitoring and an allowance for routine content changes. We can recommend an appropriate level of support based on your website.

Can you make my website faster?

We can investigate common causes of slow performance, including oversized images, unnecessary plugins, outdated software, caching problems and hosting limitations. We will explain which improvements are likely to make a meaningful difference.

Can you move my website to a different hosting provider?

Yes. We can help migrate websites between suitable hosting providers, including transferring website files and databases and assisting with the necessary domain or DNS changes.

Can you help with a website built by somebody else?

Yes. You do not need to have been one of our existing clients. We regularly help businesses and organisations with websites originally created by another designer, developer or agency.

What happens if the website cannot be repaired?

We will explain what we have found and discuss the available options with you. In some cases, an outdated or heavily damaged website may be more economical to replace than repair. We will not carry out additional work without discussing it with you first.

Do you build new websites as well as repair existing ones?

Yes. If your existing website is no longer suitable or would cost more to repair than replace, we can discuss creating a modern replacement that is easier to manage, maintain and update.

How do I get started?

Send us your website address along with a brief description of the problem or work required. Screenshots and copies of any error messages are helpful where available. We will review the information and let you know the recommended next step.
